Day 5 (4th cycle day): Cambodian 70km cycle from Phnom Penn to Kampong Thom
Leaving Phnom Penn by ferry across the Mekong where we’ll meet
up with our bikes for Cambodia.
A short walk to the new bikes
After a very short ride called into a home silk works where
they breed silk worms, collect their silk and work them on the spinning
machines & looms to make a variety of silk items (which conveniently they sell
around the back 😊)
Lunch stop at one of the many Budda temples, this time as
well as the usual selection of mini banaas etc, had a type of Lychee
Coffee stop when passing a cafe
An example of a typical convenience, familiar with the ‘hole in floor’ loo, but
here it seems unusual to be plumbed in, there is a tank and a pan for you to
scoop a suitable volume of water & drop down the hole:
There cows are really skinny, used for their work & food
but not milk; that also use Water Buffalo.
Rice fields
An old derelict Dragon boat laying in a temple shed
The paths we rode were often lined with Banana trees, in this case they were
fruit bearing mango trees
We reached the end point where the bikes needed to be loaded
onto a truck for onward transport as we were taken to our overnight hotel by
coach (was too far to ride).
Then we were ferried across the Mekong again:
